DESIGN CLUB
OBJECTIVE
To instigate and enrich the creativeness among the students of the club. To give an exposure on latest technologies in the field of building science to the students.
ACTIVITIES
Design club of Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology conducted a design competition titled "Graffiti Drawing " on 20.03.2024. Numerous students participated and made creative designs in this competition.
Design club of Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology conducted "ARTATHON" - A design and thumbprint competition on 17th February,2023. Student participants competed with their creative skills and artistic passion in this event.
Design club has conducted a webinar on “START- ART “by Ms.Krithika K, Freelance artist on 05th May,2022. Ms.Krithika, Freelance Artist made this session completely interactive and delivered her experience in converting the art into a business.
Design Club has conducted "KAIVINAI- WASTE FROM WEALTH" program on 11th March,2020 in B.Arch. Department. Numerous students participated in creating useful products out of general waste. Students were encouraged with prizes for exhibiting exceptional creativity.
Design Club has conducted "DA Vinci’s Consilio – drawing skills workshop" on 22nd August, 2019. Many students participated with enthusiasm.
Design club has organized a study visit to “Dakshina Chitra” for the students of School of Building and Environment . Students were educated about the different architecture models in this educational tour on 7th March, 2019.
Design club has conducted an invited talk on "INNOVATIONS IN PRODUCT DESIGN" by Ar.Mohan Kumar, Freelance Architect on 5th February, 2019. Students benefited with the knowledge on cutting edge architectural design methodologies.
A guest talk on “Current Architectural and Civil Engineering Practices” by Ar. Marie Joseph Gerard from L &T on 11th July, 2018 was conducted by Design club.

'Paper Recycling Workshop' for the club students was organized on 10th March 2018
Construction of open air theatre – OAT , July 2015
The design club members designed a trellis in the OAT, using “petaloid bases of pet bottles” in the month of September 2015
An Expert Talk by Mrs. ROMAINE SAN FRANCESCO, Founder, Samarpan foundation delivered a lecture on Wonders with Bottle Bricks-and Sustainability and initiated the workshop with Bottle Bricks.
The foundation for the ‘Green’ compound wall for the Urban Farm inside our University Campus, near the Department of Architecture with the bottle bricks was also started on 21st, March 2014 to mark the beginning and promoting of sustainable construction practices inside Campus.
Clay Modelling Workshop held in August 2014 has helped the students to learn the art of clay modelling and was really helpful for them to improve their creativity.
An Industrial Visit was organized by SHARON PLYWOODS to Gummidipoondi Factory on 14th June 2013.
Guest Lecture on Energy Efficient Approaches, Green Concept, Green Waste Management given by Dr. SULTAN AHMED ISMAIL, Ph.D, D.Sc, Director, Eco-science Research Foundation, Chennai
Mr.Durganand Balsavar and the entire Design club students along with the co-ordinators Dr. N. Jothilakshmy, Er. Gajalakshmi, faculties Ar. Arul Malar and Er. Dayachandran visited Mahindra World City on 13th December 2013 to study in detail the residential design and layout, Sewage and Water Treatment Plants, School Design, Transportation Networks and Terminals, Community spaces etc.
