Ms. Prathiba S - Mental Health Nursing

Ms Prathiba S is specialized in mental health nursing. She has organized and played pivotal roles in conducting various mental health related days such as autism day, drug abuse and illicit trafficking, and suicide prevention. She has been an external examiner in Pondicherry University. She is research guide for her students. She is actively involved in planning the departmental activities periodically, on discussion with the faculty members. She has been catalyst in organizing curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, involving the faculty members. She is responsible for periodical departmental meetings for implementation of the plan and systematic evaluation of the activities completed. Planning, implementing and evaluating students’ co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. She has a keen interest towards carrying out group projects.

1 year as clinical instructor, Batra Hospital and Medical Research center, New Delhi.
9 years as sister Tutor, Rural health training center, New Delhi.
2 years as Nursing Tutor, VHS- MA Chidambaram college of Nursing, Chennai.
1 Year as Assistant professor, School of Nursing, Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai.
 

Research

She is actively involved in academic and sponsored research. She guided 10 undergraduates to complete their project on Menstruation and menstrual hygiene, Cyber safety, Health burden of Covid-19, ill effects of alcohol, level of stress and self-esteem. Currently she is guiding nursing students in the areas of Perceived stress and its effect and social determinants of work-life balance. She conducted study on cognitive stimulation therapy. She is involved in the funded project on developing competency tools for PHC in Odisha state. 
1)     A study to assess the knowledge regarding computer vision syndrome and its prevention among collegiate students attending online classes during covid-19 pandemic, at selected colleges in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Published in European Journal of Molecular & Clinical Medicine, Volume 9, Issue 7, 2022
