Dr. G. Sundari is a distinguished academician with over 28 years of experience in teaching, research, and academic administration. She currently serves as the Registrar of Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai where she plays a vital role in academic governance, institutional administration, policy implementation, and regulatory compliance.
She completed her undergraduate degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the Institution of Engineers (India) in 1997. She obtained her Master’s degree in Applied Electronics from the College of Engineering, Anna University, Chennai in 2002, and earned her Ph.D. in Wireless Sensor Networks from Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology in 2011.
Throughout her career, She has held several key leadership positions including Head of the Department, Dean (Student Affairs), and Director (Administration) at Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology. She has led numerous academic and administrative initiatives and has served as the Principal Investigator for a research project funded by CVRDE, DRDO. She has also secured funding from AICTE, DST, and TNSCST for organizing Short-Term Training Programs (STTPs), Faculty Development Programs (FDPs), and national-level seminars, and has received a project under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) initiative.
An accomplished researcher, She has published over 50 research papers in reputed indexed journals, holds six patents, and has successfully guided seven Ph.D. scholars to completion. Her research interests include Wireless Sensor Networks, Image Processing, Communication Systems, and Network Security. She also serves as a peer reviewer for various international journals and contributes as a member of doctoral committees in several reputed institutions.
Dr. Sundari has actively participated in international academic collaboration programs. She has visited Brazil under the Staff Mobility Program and Sri Lanka as part of the EU-funded Erasmus+ NSIS Project, contributing to global academic exchange and strengthening international institutional partnerships.
She is also actively involved in institutional accreditation, quality assurance, and national and international ranking initiatives, contributing to the enhancement of academic standards, institutional quality benchmarks, and global visibility of the university.
With a strong passion for knowledge dissemination and academic mentorship, she has guided more than 100 student projects across various domains of engineering and technology.She is the author of four books and co-author of two book chapters focusing on emerging areas such as Artificial Swarm Intelligence and the Internet of Things (IoT).
In recognition of her excellence in teaching, research, and academic leadership, she has received several awards, including the Best Teacher Award (three times) from Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, the Best Faculty Award from Cognizant Technology Solutions, and the Best Administrator Award from the Institution of Engineers (India).She is also an active member of several professional bodies. She is a Life Member of the IEI, ISTE, QCFI, and a Fellow of IETE.
