EQUAL OPPORTUNITY CENTRE
The Equal Opportunity Centre at Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology is a dedicated body established under the Directive of University Grants Commission (UGC) to uphold integrity, inclusivity and equity among all stake holders in campus. It acts as a nodal centre for the effective implementation of policies and programs for disadvantaged groups, while also fostering diversity and social cohesion within the institution.
Objectives of the Equal Opportunity Centre (EOC)
- Eradicate discrimination on the basis of religion, race, caste, gender, place of birth, or disability.
- Promote full equity and inclusion among all stakeholders—students, faculty, and staff.
- Provide guidance and counselling on academic, financial, and social matters for marginalized and disadvantaged groups.
- Safeguard the rights of students and staff by addressing grievances and protecting individuals against retaliation.
- Create a socially congenial atmosphere that supports healthy academic interaction and interpersonal relationships.
- Coordinate with government agencies, NGOs, and civil society to mobilize resources and strengthen equity initiatives.
