During his tenure he had occupied various academic capacities as Head - University Bioinformatics Center and advanced imaging facility. As an experienced academician with vast international exposure, he is also a well trained researcher in the field of Microbiology and Biotechnology, his research focuses on studying infectious pathogens, their virulence and their importance in systemic diseases.

His expertise in the field of Bioinformatics and nanovaccine delivery systems is well acknowledged. He received his DVM degree from India. And his doctoral studies focused on studying the virulence of orbiviruses, and work performed in studying their molecular morphogenesis at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, India. His postdoctoral training at the University of California, Davis brought about seminal publications (USDA & BBSRC-UK). His pioneering works also culminated in two patents. One of his other pioneering work through Postdoctoral fellowship at the Laboratory of Gene structure and Expression, National Cancer Center of Singapore studied the haplotype variations on the enterocytes and hepatic expression of P-glycoproteins. He is also trained through an NIH-post doctoral research fellowship exploring the molecular aspects of human microbiome interactions. His research work at the Loma Linda University, School of Medicine is on studying the virulence determinants and host-pathogen interactions of oral pathogens and their causal role in systemic diseases through an integrated proteomics approach. His studies were the first to explore a new oral pathogen Filifactor alocis and its virulence potential. His publications have been featured in the cover page of prestigious journals – Nature communications, Infection and Immunity, Proteomics and in other peer reviewed journals of high impact factors.
