
Name of the project : Developing Information, Research and Digital Skills for Business, Innovation and Entrepreneurship in India, Sri Lanka and Nepal.
The Developing Information, Research, and Digital Skills for Business, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship in India, Sri Lanka, and Nepal (NSIS) Project aims to strengthen the capabilities of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in India, Sri Lanka, and Nepal by enhancing the competencies of Library and Information Specialist (LIS) staff. This initiative, funded by ERASMUS-EDU, focuses on improving information support for research, business, and innovation in the region through international collaboration. This project aims to provide increased specialist information support to Research, Business, and Innovation by improving and increasing the competencies and skills of Library and Information Specialist staff in the HEIs in India, Nepal, and Srilanka.
The Model for Developing Study Skills is a structured framework designed to help learners systematically improve their ability to study effectively, apply their knowledge and achieve academic and career success. This model emphasizes active learning, self-regulation, and continuous improvement, while guiding students and academicians through practical steps to enhance their study habits, motivation, academic and career performance.
Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology plays a significant role in this project, with a team of five representatives: four professors and one Librarian. The project consists of seven Work Packages involving online and physical meetings, curriculum development, training sessions, piloting, and evaluation activities.
Key Focus of the Project:
Developing a Library and IS staff development strategy that improves standards, range, and quality of library services.
Enhancing the digital, transferable, and lifelong learning skills of Library and IS staff.
Strengthening university engagement with businesses and researchers to foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and knowledge-sharing.
Creating the NSIS Modular Curriculum, a specialized training program that offers modern IS, Information Literacy, and key transferable skills tailored to the needs of businesses and researchers.
An awareness session was conducted in the Central Library Auditorium on 25th February 2025 at 14.30 hours to disseminate information on the project to stakeholders in our institution Library ground floor auditorium.
