Internal Complaints Committee

Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology is committed to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and gender-sensitive academic and work environment. Sexual harassment violates fundamental rights to equality, dignity, and safe working conditions.

The institution adopts a zero-tolerance policy toward sexual harassment and establishes mechanisms for prevention, prohibition, and redressal of complaints through the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC).

The composition of ICC, reconstituted  is as follows:

6. Ms.Punitha, NGO, MAATRAM Foundation – External member from NGO

7. Ms. Atsaiya R, Student member

8. Ms.Vaishnavi Melanta N, Student member

9. Ms. Reshmiya Shakthivel- Student member

 

Objectives:

  • To create a safe academic and professional environment free from sexual harassment.
  • To prevent and prohibit any form of sexual harassment on campus or during institutional 
    activities.
  • To provide a confidential and fair grievance redressal mechanism.
  • To ensure awareness, gender sensitization, and respect among all stakeholders.
  • To comply with UGC regulations and statutory provisions

Responsibilities of Committee Members:

  • Proactive initiatives towards ensuring the respect of women in the campus
  • Conducting awareness programs towards gender equality to address gender bias and insensitivity through various modes such as seminars, events, announcements in forums and poster display.
  • Examining all the sexual harassment and gender discrimination related grievances with utmost integrity and self-discipline.
  • Assisting administrative authorities with suggestions / inputs/ recommendations in updating policies / rules and regulations pertinent to handling sexual harassment and gender related issues in the institution.
  • Investigating, analyzing and recording the grievances related to sexual harassment and gender discrimination.
  • To recommend punitive/disciplinary action against the guilty to Management / Administrative Authorities of the institution within stipulated time period
